Kiteboarding Victoria

Parks Victoria, in conjunction with local councils, designates the kiting and boating zones thoughout Victoria - Kiters are also subject to the standard boating regulations such as no-go zones, distance from shore, objects, swimmers etc.
Kiters must not kite in any designated "no boating"or "no kiting" zones - sailing in these zones jeopardises your safety and possibly that of others, and put you at risk of fines, voided insurance and inability to claim against insurance in the case of any accident.
Kiting schools/instructors may operate at locations designated as kiting zones however require a permit or written permission to operate at each of these locations in order for their insurance cover to be valid. Giving lessons, instructing and even demonstrating equipment in these zones without permission puts you at risk of voided insurance and inability to claim against insurance in the case of any accident.
KBV works with local councils, Parks Victoria, Marine Safety Victoria, and Life Saving Victoria to develop a mutual awareness of kiting, safety and access issues. As part of our responsibility to kiters, KBV will only list schools/instructors that are permitted to teach at each location providing that the relevant permits can be shown.
Kiters are nevertheless advised to check the following before engaging any school / instructor for lessons:
- The school/instructor is appropriately qualified to give instruction.
- The school/inntructor has valid insurance coverage for its students.
- The school/instructor has a permit to teach at that location.
