When you are sailing on your board you and your rig are considered to be a sailing vessel. As such, some important sailing rules apply... Familiarize yourself with some of the most important rules below so there will be no hesitation in applying them when a possible confrontation arises.
  
Kiteboarding is an extremely diverse sport, with many disciplines and ability levels. As with all extreme sports, there are inherent risks. Safe Practice is the knowledge and exercise of the safety aspects of the sport. This section summarises the most important points of both the rules and commonsense guidelines for ensuring the safety of kiters and spectators.
  

As the number of (avoidable) incidents and associated complaints increase, we expose ourselves to the it possibility that the sport will be heavily restricted or even banned on some beaches. It is up to us all to take the initiative and promote the sport by example, by assisting those who are less experienced, and by remembering that we share the beaches and facilities with others.
